Beauty Technik began in London in 2005 when founder Natasha Iwegbu Bobo committed to a detoxing regime to cleanse her body. "Once I started paying attention to what I ate and applied to my skin, I was forced to take a closer look at my makeup's ingredients label. I was alarmed by what I found - preservatives, harsh chemicals and a plethora of toxins.
"I have always valued a polished look, so while I realized my skin may have been breaking out from the products I used, giving up makeup was not an option. As a product designer, I knew there had to be a better, purer way to wear makeup." With a master's degree in advanced mechanical engineering and product design, Natasha embraced this challenge and created Beauty Technik in her own kitchen. "My kitchen was my mini laboratory. I streamlined and isolated the purest elements essential for makeup coverage and formulated small batch sizes of fresh, handmade quality products that feel light and give a flawless complexion naturally. Who would have known that natural products would work better?"
Each Beauty Technik shade is based on an actual person, so the products are flexible and contain only pure minerals, natural pigments and sunscreens that allow skin to breathe.
Natasha has taken Beauty Technik to a global market via the Internet and is growing the company from her small office in Georgetown. The ultimate goal is to have women look at makeup differently.
"We have been wearing makeup for thousands of years - before mass production and before a man in a suit thought of how to make it as cheaply and quickly as possible to make profit. Makeup is just color we apply to give us a little boost so we can get on with our busy lives. Beauty Technik works hand in hand with who you are and is proof you can get stunning results through simple, clean and untainted ingredients."
